The moment you pick up a camera and head out onto the streets, you never really know what you are going to come across. Check out what happened when I teamed up with JPEGmini to explore what it is like ‘Facing The Unknown’ as a photographer on the streets.
I recently teamed up with Bottle Rocket Clothing to shoot the latest images of their t-shirt line. Check out these images that were shot around the art-driven location of Digbeth in Birmingham, UK.
This blog post marks 2 whole years since I started doing these quarterly releases. What I have noticed a lot about photography over time is that it never ceases to surprise me. The last 3 months I have been photographing the streets of Birmingham as I normally do, trying to capture these moments in between my freelance jobs and during my free time.
At the start of the year I got inside the studio with Molly Owen. During this shoot we experimented with a few different looks combining fashion and ‘wet look’ portraits. Have a look to see what we created.
I recently worked together with The REP (Birmingham Repertory Theatre) to produce some promotional imagery for their upcoming production of ‘Stadium’. These images were photographed on Livery Street in Birmingham which offered the perfect urban backdrop for promoting this production.
I recently teamed up with Ramario Chevoy and Monica Montalvo to shoot some images for H&M Man’s ‘Transeasonal’ collection. Check out the images that were a result of this great shoot.
After an overwhelming start to the year that has been full of bittersweet moments & changes to my life, I am pleased to show another collection of images taken on the streets of Birmingham.
They say that you don't really understand the full importance of photograph until it is all you have left. My Father recently passed away which once again made me realise how important it was for me to capture the moments around me.
At the start of 2017 I was approached by the Apple team in Birmingham following their recent move into the incredible '128 New Street' building on Corporation Street. The idea was to host a 'Photo Walk' focussed on 'Ordinary Life' which would allow participants to explore techniques for making the ordinary look extraordinary on the streets of Birmingham.
After photographing the Birmingham streets for a whole year in 2016, check out these 50 images I captured in the city during the months of October-December.
In October me and Shawna decided to team up once again, aiming to create some great images. I noticed that Shawna had invested in some awesome coloured wigs from Lush Wigs and we decided to shoot a couple of them in the studio.
In September I had one of my favourite shoots of the year as I organised to head into the studio with Rachel Perera & Kate Benton. This shoot was great from start to finish.
Here's a selection of images from when I shot with Lusy Logan & Ryan Davies-Hall back in July. This shoot was shot on the same day as our 'Cosy Club' Photoshoot & took place on top of Snow Hill car park in Birmingham.
Back in August of this year, myself and Ana Maria decided it would be great to shoot some studio portraits when we both had a few hours free. We made plans for a 2 hour shoot and I told her to bring a good range of clothes that we could create a few styles from. See the images that we got from this great shoot.
In early September of 2016 I was blessed with the opportunity to photograph Katie & Chris’s wedding in Lichfield. I have known Chris for a couple of years and it was fantastic feeling being asked to capture his and Katie’s special day.
Here are 50 photos taken on the streets of Birmingham during the months of July, August & September of 2016. After changing a large part of my working life and going freelance, I didn’t know whether I would be taking as many photos of Birmingham anymore. It appears I have surprised even myself and actively continued to photograph the streets of Birmingham, albeit differently to when I was commuting through the city.
In September 2016 I was able to achieve a milestone I only dreamt of since picking up a camera. I was given the amazing opportunity to exhibit my photography for the first time in my life after working closely with Birmingham Children's Hospital on their 'Stars of Steelhouse Lane' project.
On the 3rd August myself and Lauren Kate Preston teamed up to do a test photoshoot. Lauren was a true pro that has a great 'look' which she can switch on in-between the fun and laughs. We only had one hour to shoot, but that didn't phase us.
Steven Spielberg is currently filming in Birmingham, U.K. for the production of 'Ready Player One'. The production has turned Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter into a dystopian American future.
The awesome people over at 'I Choose Birmingham' put together a great feature on my street photography of Birmingham, captured during my commute to/from work in 2015 & 2016. Check out what they had to say alongside a few of my photos.
On the 24th July I met up with Lusy Logan and Ryan Davies-Hall to shoot some images of the both of them inside Cosy Club in Birmingham. Check out the images and photoshoot video to see what was captured on the day.
Towards the end of April 2016, myself and Gracie Love finally found time to fit a studio shoot into our schedules. Check out the video & images from our shoot which feature a few looks that suited both of our styles.
Back in May 2016 I shot with model Ryan Davies-Hall. Take a look at the images & video that were produced during our time in the studio.
Here are 10 Photos from the 'Black Lives Matter' protest in Birmingham on 09/07/16. The protest happened near The Bullring in Birmingham and was organised following the protests held in Dallas, Texas on 07/07/16.
Here are 50 photos taken on the streets of Birmingham during the months of April, June & July of 2016. As I head towards pastures new, these images are the last additions to the commute I've documented almost every day since April 2015.
I was back in the studio on March 23rd of 2016 and had the pleasure of shooting the talented Shawna Leigh. We had been circulating some open ideas for a while and the idea of creating ‘alternative' images with a hint of fashion was what we rolled with.
Here is a collection of moments I captured on the streets of Birmingham during January - March 2016. Most of these were taken during my work commute walking from Moor Street Station to Brindleyplace.
Back in September 2015, myself and The Glamophones did a shoot to capture some images for their merchandise, including calendars & posters which you can purchase on their online store (theglamophones.com/shop).
After a desire to shoot a lot more portraits in 2016, It seemed clear to get in the studio again with Ashleigh Millman. I last shot with Ash for a Pop Art project in 2014. I knew that Ash would bring her A-game so when you pair that with the Make-Up/Hair skills of JoJo Davies, I had a feeling this was going to be pretty awesome team.
Here is a collection of 50 moments I captured on the streets of Birmingham during October - December 2015. Like the previous 6 months, most of these were taken during my commute to work as I walked from Moor Street Station to Brindleyplace.
